I was born in India and moved to the US at the age of four. Growing up, our home was shadowed by the presence of financial and emotional difficulties leaving my mother to shoulder the responsibility of raising my siblings and me while she toiled through graveyard shifts. Our financial struggles were palpable, as we frequented secondhand stores and relied on clothing depots to make ends meet. With my mother occupied with work at night, I assumed the role of mediator in our family dynamics, striving to keep the peace amidst my father's volatile temper.
Enduring a tumultuous marriage marked by domestic violence, I ultimately made the courageous decision to leave, taking my young daughter with me. Despite facing rejection from both extended family and community members who shamed me, I stood resilient. Determined to rewrite my narrative, I pursued higher education, earning an MBA, running a successful Indian bakery and restaurant (featured in over 30 publications and articles including the New York Times). I eventually also became certified in Ayurveda, NLP, EFT, and mindset coaching.
Through sheer grit and determination, I established a thriving restaurant that became a cornerstone of our community, garnering widespread recognition in numerous media outlets, including magazines, newspapers, television shows, and even museums. Additionally, I initiated various nonprofit endeavors, organized community festivals, and actively contributed to several boards and organizations.
Raising my daughter single-handedly with the support of my parents, I defied societal expectations and shattered stereotypes, proving that a single Indian woman is capable of achieving greatness independently. Despite enduring financial setbacks, health challenges, and tumultuous relationships, I remained steadfast in my resolve, guided by the belief that one's mindset is paramount in overcoming adversity.
Having experienced the depths of despair, I understand the power of resilience and the importance of maintaining a positive outlook. No matter how bleak circumstances may appear, our thoughts and inner dialogue possess the transformative power to propel us forward. Every individual is deserving of their desires, irrespective of the current realities they face.
