Fessa' John Hook is a career broadcaster, mobile DJ, MC, and veteran of hundreds of parties of every kind--all requests and music styles honored with a quarter million songs to choose from. John is the National Voice of Beach Music on his weekend show, Carolina Shag, on SiriusXM. North Carolina acknowledged his contribution to Beach and Shag history and performance when Governor Roy Cooper awarded him North Carolina's highest Award; the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. John has not only mastered the music as well, he's a master entertainer as well, with speaking engagements covering a wide variety of subjects at $2500 an hour. In addition he's the author of sixteen best-selling music books which include the story of Southeastern U.S. entertainment, a history of Shaggin'& Boppin,' a two-volume Beach Music Encyclopedia, the Beach and Shag All Time Top 200, Beach Music's origins, (moving them back another 20 years), and 200+ magazines deepening the histories of Beach Music, Shag, the Whip, Bop, and other 'free style' forms of dancing. Hook's expertise extends well beyond his specialty. He was a top drive time DJ on six # 1 Top 40 stations before venturing into the Beach Music world. He was the voice of Cashbox Magazine's weekly countdown shows--Country Top 30, Hip Hop 30, EZ 30, Top Pop 30, World Rock 30, Contemporary Christian 30, Beach Music Top 40, Black Gospel, Yearly Beach Music Top 40s 1945-2022, and Southern Gospel.
